If you aspire to cultivate self-kindness as well as sweep out harmful thoughts of racism, homophobia, sexism, etc. from your mind, this may offer some useful wisdom. There are many reasons that calming the instincts is the most profound enlightened self-interest. And, knowing why and how your mind might believe crazy, hurtful things and how to reprogram it when that happens is a valuable part of the operating manual they probably didn’t give you in school.
